HO CHI MINH CITY ADVANCES INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN AI, TECH TALENT AND DATA INFRASTRUCTURE
On August 18, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, received and held a working session with the Institute for Innovation and Digital Transformation (VIDTI) and the Rong Xanh Fellowship.
As part of their working visit to Vietnam, the international delegation from Rong Xanh Fellowship, in collaboration with Stamford Global Leadership Center (SGLC), met with Ho Chi Minh City leaders to discuss potential areas of cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), technology talent development, and data infrastructure.
The meeting aimed to advance several key priorities, including:
Exploring and assessing the feasibility of developing an AI computing center in Vietnam;
Promoting collaboration in high-quality talent development programs, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence;
Strengthening linkages among the innovation ecosystem, technology enterprises, and government agencies;
Providing advisory on secure data infrastructure and fintech solutions for the development of the International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City.
During the meeting, the delegation also proposed the establishment of an AI Research and Innovation Center (AI R&I Center), along with a 90-day sandbox model focused on AI safety and sovereignty, based on a “triple helix” collaboration model among government, academia/research institutions, and enterprises. City leaders expressed strong support for the proposal and assigned the Department of Science and Technology as the focal point for coordination and further implementation.
The meeting marks an important initial step in strengthening cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and international partners, contributing to the city’s goal of positioning science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of future growth.
